June NA RR - A Room for the Night

Great card from the Troy Litten Wanderlust series of postcards.  Perfect for my love of motels!

Swap - Forever Tall Mural

Forever Tall was a mural painted in Manhatten in 2001 in tribute to 9/11.  Although it was started before that it's focus shifted after the events of that day. I think this is such a beautiful card and a lovely tribute to the Twin Towers. Thanks so much for sending it Gina and for sharing your thoughts.

Swap - Beautiful Malaysia

Thank you Cendy for this pretty multiview of Malaysia with Perdana Putra as the focal point.  It houses the offices of the Malaysian Prime Minister.

Swap - Greetings from Rochester

Mimi sent me this awesome big letter card. On it she wrote me some delightful Minnesota trivia - SPAM was invented there, and children believe that if they drop an ice cube down the toilet there will be sooooo much snow that they will get a snow day!  Thank you Mimi!

Swap - Memphis 1974-75

I love this card!  This is a William Eggleston photo from Memphis, Tennessee, c. 1974-75.  It completely screams 70s. Courtney realated this fab card to memories of her childhood and her cousin who resembled the girl on the right.  I really enjoyed your story Courtney, thank you!

Swap - Year of the Americas '72

Look, another amazing card from Eric!  This very cool airmail card was published by the USPS in 1972 as part of a series.  It is prepaid with a 15 cent Niagara Falls stamp.  Of course Eric jazzed it up with some vintage stamps to bring it up to today's rate.  Love it!

Swap - Mini Bus

Angel sent me this cute little mini bus card that I adore.  Looks a lot like a certain camper van I'm very fond of, don't you think?

Swap - Food Package

I recently made and sent my first food package card.  It was more fun than I thought and it arrived safe and sound at it's destination in B.C. I had visions of Canada Post thinking it was a piece of trash and tossing it in the recycle bin!

Today I received my first food package postcard and I love it!  Kaori decorated the back so beautifully! It's a spicy Chinese food called Mabo-doufu that she eats nearly every day.  Looks yummy! Thanks Kaori!

Swap - The House of Juliet

I'm a sucker for a love story.  The house in Verona known as Juliet's house was owned by the family dell Capello, a name not too far from Capulet, right? The house dates from the 13th century and the family coat of arms can still be seen on the wall. A slight problem is the balcony itself, which overlooks the courtyard – it was added in the 20th century. Thank you Katja for the beautiful card!

Swap - That 70s Nightie

I'm beyond excited about this card!  I love 70s stuff like this... I think I watched too much Brady Bunch as a kid because I drool over 70s catalogues and fashion, so this card from the Advertising Archives is perfect.

From: "Catalog Woman: Mail-Order Fashion Foxes" by Chronicle Books.

Swap - The Penguin Knitting Book

The collection this postcard comes from is mostly novels so I was very excited when I realized this was in it.  Thank you to Au for sending me this and the Love-Bug card!

Swap - Colourful Buenos Aires

Caminito means little walkway or path in Spanish.  This is a street museum located in the La Boca neighbourhood.  The colours are so amazing!

Swap - Wawona Tree

Famous giant sequoia in Yosemite Park, California.  A tunnel was cut through the tree in 1881, enlarging an existing fire scar. Two men, the Scribner brothers, were paid $75 for the job ($1,833 in inflation-adjusted terms). The tree had a slight lean, which increased when the tunnel was completed. Hired by the Yosemite Stage and Turnpike Company to create a tourist attraction, this human-made tunnel became extremely popular. Visitors were often photographed driving through or standing in the tunnel. The Wawona Tree fell in 1969 under a heavy load of snow on its crown. The giant sequoia is estimated to have been 2,300 years old.

Swap - Stewart Crossing Lodge

Another great card from Alida!  This is Stewart Crossing Lodge located at the old ferry landing on the Stewart River in the Yukon.  Features accomodation, coffee shop, gas and tire repairs.  Alida noted that the take-out part looks like an outhouse!  And could they not have removed the garbage can before taking the photo? :)

Swap - Longworth Post Office

Angie, who sent me the Penny Post Office also sent me this Longworth, BC postcard. Both made from photos she took.  She writes it is the tiniest post office she has ever seen and is only open for 2 hours, 3 days per week.  Thanks for the two charming cards Angie!

The community of Penny is located in central British Columbia.  Penny Post Office opened 1 February 1916 with Nels Pederson as postmaster. Penny was the last  community in Canada that still relied on the railroad for postal service. Unforutnately, the Penny Post Office was closed by Canada post on Dec. 30, 2013.
