Finland - Barn

There is no description of this rustic little shack on the card so I'm not sure where or what it is.  It is very charming though in it's lonely little way.

September 2015 NA RR - Barn Advertising

I totally adore these old barns with their advertising.  Mike sent me this one and writes that he is lucky enough to live in an area that has a lot of these old barns. A blast from the past.

March 2015 NA RR - Claude Moore Colonial Farm

The Claude Moore Colonial Farm at Turkey Run demonstrates the life of a poor farm family in Northern Virginia prior to the Revolutionary War.  Tobacco is the main cash crop of the era.  It is harvested in August and placed in this tobacco house to cure.

February 2015 NA RR - Dilapidation

This is exactly the kind of country scene I love.  When out driving I always want to pull over and take photos of these once beautiful strong structures that are now crumbling.  Thank you Victoria!

USA - Barn Under a Sign

A rare survivor of a bit of Americana, the barn sign conveyed messages and interest to countless millions of travelers until Interstate Highway standards limited billboards.   This sign is located in St. Charles, MO along the I-70.

Thank you Laurie for such a wonderful and nostalgic card!

October NA RR - Arcadia Round Barn

I love this round barn from Valerie. It was built in 1898 and not only did it serve as a home for livestock it also served as a dance hall for the town.  The round shape was designed to withstand Oklahoma's tornadic winds!

August NA RR - New England Farm

The Laurentide Ice Sheet devoured New England 15,000 to 30,000 years ago, scouring down to bedrock, splitting stone slabs and tossing them across the landscape for farmers to deal with.

Swap - New England Holiday Scene

This is a common scene during the Holiday Season in New England.   As much as I complain about the snow during our winters you have to admit it is sooooo pretty.

May RR - Blue Ridge Parkway

Is this not a beautiful card? Humpback Rocks features a typical 1890s mountain farm with cabin, weasel-proof chicken coop, root cellar, barn with bear-proof hog pen, and spring house.  Thank you Kristy!
